Minutes:

• Discuss Slack moderation events
  • Follow up to ensure moderation of advertisement this month was handled appropriately
    • General agreement it was handled fine
  • /invite_people being curated by Slack Admins
    • Auto inviter still enabled, but doesn’t seem to be abused at this point. Can consider shutting it off reactively.
• Strategy subcommittee update

• Discussion on whether we can use Kiwi Ruby to obtain feedback on community
  • Perhaps a feedback box

  • Reminder from Steve about passing on box of adapters from last Kiwi Ruby
  • Speakers all booked in
  • Diversity applicants notified
  • T-shirt, pin, lanyards in various stages of design
  • Budget still looking positive
  • Sponsorship has been excellent
  • Pre, post events organised. Childcare available, organised.
  • In context of Ruby NZ, it would be good to begin thinking about the next Kiwi Ruby. Whether that involves trying to find organisers, or thinking about where it might be hosted in future, or generally what’s ahead for the event.
• November committee meeting organisation

  • Merrin to organise an Agenda
  • Snacks to be confirmed!
• WellyTech Christmas party budget
  • Action: Put item in for next agenda to revisit this.

  • Haven’t sent an email, as no one has sent anything to Steve other than the document from Merrin (and one job posting from Mathew).
  • Could still send a first email asking for input.
  • We’ll send out an email with the content from Merrin
  • Would be good to get the ‘Ruby and or Rails Companies in NZ’ page updated

  • Transferwise
    • Used for money transfers between international speakers/Ruby NZ
    • Steve keen to setup account for Ruby NZ, as he is using his personal account right now. This is linked to the Ruby NZ debit card, which results in slightly extra costs.
    • They would require passports from all committee members
