• Kiwi ruby update
  • Received some designs - in feedback stages
  • Sponsorship prospectus waiting on logo
  • Next meeting, come up with CFP process
• Community subcommittee
  • Community survey review document open to viewing and feedback within committee
  • Aware of caveat that it may not be representative of the whole community due to selection bias
  • Looking to publish soon
  • Definition of ruby nz community next point of discussion for subcommittee
    • In first processes of beginning this
  • Proposal from Laura to add an automated welcome message

  • Discussion: Slack mostly unchanged
    • 1% discussion in private channels
    • An uptick in #security
  • Discussion on conversation with NZOSS organisers

  • Proposal to speak with recruiters
    • Talking to recruiters about their experience of recruiting ruby devs
    • What job seekers (employers and employees) are looking for - improve our understanding so we can best serve people in the job market
    • Discussion on community involvement in Auckland being a bit lower;
      • People not that keen to give up nights to go to meetups as attendees or speakers
      • Maybe we can create some incentive to attend such as bringing in high profile speakers to create interest
      • Lots of people using ruby, but fragmented - so people unlikely to travel the long distances in Auckland
      • Discussion of optimal placing of where a meetup could be held (e.g. Britomart area). New meetup spot probably in a fairly optimal spot.. Roughly 10 minutes from Britomart

  • Mentioned on Slack, but not discussed in committee so far
  • Discussion on supporting it as well as possible
    • Organised outside committee
    • Finances in RubyNZ accounts
    • Try catch up at Well Railed
  • Pointed out that it could be expanded to other cities
    • Well done in Wellington, good organisation
    • Probably doesn’t need much help; they’ve got it down
    • Anthony to try contact Dev Academy in Auckland for potential sponsorship of an Auckland based event
• 'Ruby Burgers'
  • Christchurch group meets halfway between meetups for burgers
    • Fun, other locations could try it
• Rails Camp
  • No word on anyone wanting to organise
  • Motion to put a message in Slack to garner interest on organising a rails camp with sponsorship and help from RubyNZ

• NZOSS Has message to pass on regarding becoming a member of their community and taking advantage of their facilities
  • Discussion on making an #oss channel for discussion and support of people contributing to OSS
  • Pete to make an OSS channel and leave a message in #general about it
