Pod activation

Switch to the "Omnipy" tab in Android APS.

If you have no pod active, you will see the "ACTIVATE" button enabled and most of the rest of the buttons in the userinterface are disabled.

Click on the ACTIVATE button and the user interface will guide you through the steps to activate a pod.

During activation (pairing & priming) make sure the pod is close to the RileyLink, but not touching it, and ideally slightly offset from the antenna. Successful positioning is quite important for this to work.

These three photos show successful priming positioning:

Once activation is successful, you may apply the pod as instructed and proceed to the next phase.

Insert cannula & start pod

After successful activation you will see that Deactivate, Archive and Start buttons have become enabled. In order to start the pod, click on the start button and follow the instructions on the screen.

If for any reason, you don't want to start this pod, you can click "Deactivate" or "Archive" at this point to unregister this pod from omnipy, so you can start the activation process with another pod.

Deactivation and archiving

While a pod is active on the omnipy system, no other pod can be activated or started. That is even if your pod is expired, faulted, you won't be able to activate a new pod unless you "deactivate" or "archive" the current pod.

Deactivation

Deactivation is the process of turning the pod off. In order to do that, your active pod must be accessible and working. A successful deactivation will completely stop insulin delivery, turn off all alarms, including fault alarms (i.e. screaming pod) and remove the pod from the omnipy system by implicitly archiving it.

If your pod is not accessible (in cases such as pod is lost, there is a permanent radio error, or anything out of the ordinary) then you won't be able to deactivate the pod. In this case, you can still perform an archival to remove the pod from the system and be able to activate a new pod.

Archiving

If you click archive, all the information related to the current pod in the system will be removed (and archived) and you will be able to activate a new pod. As explained in the deactivation section above, archiving a pod does not deactivate the pod and the pod will continue to deliver insulin according to its basal schedule, sound alarms etc.
