This page describes recent changes made to the SondeHub ('professional') Tracker.
The commit history for this repository is the 'source of truth' of what has changed in the code, though the sections below attempt to describe the changes in easier to understand terms!
If you encounter issues with the tracker, please either raise an issue on this repository (preferred), or contact us at [email protected].
This is a fairly major change which helps reduce the cost of operating SondeHub, and also helps improve client performance.
The Patreon post (publicly accessible) available here describes the changes in detail, but the major behavioural differences you will note are:
- At higher (wider) zoom levels you will only see the rough location of radiosondes, as well as newly seen radiosondes. You will also see a message saying to zoom in to get live data.
- After zooming in, you will start to get live position data for the sondes within the field of view.
- Radiosonde tracks will no longer by shown by default, but can be enabled by selecting a radiosonde on the map. Multiple radiosondes can be selected.
In addition to the frustum culling changes, we have also:
- Made the launch site and receiver markers become smaller as you zoom out, reducing clutter on the map (remember you can also disable these markers in settings!).
- A popup will appear if there is a newer version of the SondeHub-Tracker website available, prompting you to reload the page.
