Welcome to the OCP-Public wiki

The Open Compute Project is a rapidly growing community of engineers around the world whose mission is to design and enable the delivery of the most efficient server, storage and data center hardware designs available for scalable computing. Currently there are eleven Project Groups that individuals and organizations can get involved with and participate in.

Participate

If you are interested in working with the Open Compute Project, we are glad to welcome you to our community. There are several ways to get involved with OCP. We encourage everyone to take a look at the OCP website and to sign up for our mailing lists to participate in the project meetings.

Board of Directors

The OCP Foundation is governed by its Board of Directors:

The Board of Directors charters the Projects and sets the strategic mission and focus of the OCP Foundation.

Steering Committee

The Steering Committee (SC) reviews and approves all new specs which are submitted to the OCP Foundation.

The SC Chair positions are appointed by the OCP Foundation Board.

The SC seats that mirror the OCP Projects are elected seats.

OCP Project Groups

Specifications and designs are contributed to the OCP Foundation through the OCP Projects. Each Project Group has Project Leads. The Project Leads run the monthly project calls and assist with specification & design submissions. To join the conversation and attend a project meeting, visit the OCP Projects below.

As our community continues to grow, we will be implementing remote participation options (details are still being worked out) and as such we have added a Video Policy for all our events which can be found below.

OCP Summits

The Open Compute Project Foundation hosts annual summits, where the community meets and discusses the latest developments with OCP. Summits offer a chance to hear from speakers and panels, get the latest announcements, view demonstrations, visit booths, and network with others in the community.

OCP Engineering Workshops

The Open Compute Project Foundation will host a series of engineering workshops each year to build on the community. The goals of these are:

Increased community participation and stickiness. Increase the OCP technology portfolio; depth and breadth of specifications and charters. Drive the product-ionization of OCP’s specifications. A good example here is the Intel’s interconnect technology that enables Sipho. Solidify specification versioning pipeline, release process, naming conventions. Take into account/understand the suppliers needs and OCP partners needs; AMDs Roadrunner and the associated release and deployment is a good example here. Implementation of OCP’s legal framework (CLA’s, OWFa’s). Building out/addressing technologies for new sectors.

We are planning on video taping some sessions in order to be more inclusive to Open Compute Community of contributors who are not attending.
