In this wiki I will jot down all the information gathered during my reversing experiments.

Note that I've analyzed only the Mac OS X version of the Native Instruments software, but it is relatively clear that the infrastructure is the same on the Windows version.

A lot of the details described here are shared with all their line of controllers, so almost all the information contained here is valid also for different hardware models, such as Traktor control surfaces, that's why I will seldom refer to the Maschine hardware specifically.
