Unfortunately there is a crux in the method used to determine the px size, in Safari 9 at least. When “Zoom Text Only” is disabled (default setting) the resulting value remains the same regarging of user zoom level. Unfortunately this disrupts the relative nature of em and I’d say this is a drawback to the point where it loses its merit. When or if I ever come upon a bulletproof solution, I’ll keep you posted.
