I'm going to keep it real... GTK isn't the best, plus it would be nice to decrease our reliance on GNOME. We should consider replacing GTK with something much better, we'll have to figure out what that might be though. This would mean a new version of libhelium, our core apps, and even our shell. This is a massive project and also very low priority, so I don't expect something GA ready for a few major releases.

Ideal target for a MVP desktop would be V2, we can release it alongside the GNOME release for testing.
