Templating docs

Hello, are there any templating docs? We'd like to build a template and move some items around based on the design. For instance, we'd like to move 'search' out of the nav in 'tplTopTabsWithCategory' and into the main or sidebar area.

I've tried adding the template variable to our own template variables in tplMain (based on a copy of "www/style/1"). The new template is active.

e.g

After looking at tplTopTabsWithCategoryr, I added to tplMain

'search' => '', //46

And then added:

%46$s

Within the HTML element #qview-side... but nothing turns up. I know I'm probably missing something basic so maybe a hint would help ? I'll keep searching in the meantime.
