Filter peers by country

QBittorrent can show country of each peer (Flags).
We can add a country function to black/white list and block for example all German peers.

same interest here, i want to filter countries that are not seeding friendly like the US or such. They always take the priority in leeching but never seed back, as they may get block by there ISP. Hope this feature become a reality.

That is a bad practice to black list something without a report or a message. I suggest to generate a local list with "bad" peers and just replace a being downloaded torrent by "a message" traffic with a criteria to met to avoid a black list or ban.

To detect such peers could be enough just register all leech peers and their downloads and try to back download torrents they has been downloaded at some slower speed. If back download traffic is less than some percent per time from downloaded then increment a penalty score to the peer and reduce upload speed limit for next downloads until full black list with a message.
In case if a peer doesn't want to share some downloads, then just try to back download other downloaded torrents. Can be set a minimal percent from downloaded torrents must be always available, for example, at least 1 torrent or 2%.

Criteria to met could be a text file instead of content a peer being downloaded with a message including:

• list of registered torrents been used for back download
• minimal percent from downloaded torrents must be always available
• minimal back download traffic speed and remained back download traffic size to avoid a black list
• etc

that would involve multiple things:
1/ how many violations do you think is reasonable before they make the list?
2/ How would you know that they dont wanna seed, and blacklist them?
3/ What is a "acceptable" back download, what if they're just far away from any potential peers, and cant get to them in time for you to judge their back download rate? If so, arent they permanently got no seeder for them to download ?
To me, the only viable option is to allow blocking/throttling a range of IPs, from some specific area, to reduce bandwidth loss, as there are sometimes multiple peers ask to be seeded but leechers just keep coming...

A penalty score just a measure to not black list a peer immediately. It can be like 10 points. The list will be always formed to collect the statistical data and score the back download traffic to "find" bad seeders.

Just back download that they just downloaded from you. Say some overhead traffic like 1-10% from the main traffic from you to the leecher.

3/ What is a "acceptable" back download

The idea is just measure multiple parameters from the peer like:

• Violation of the minimal size of the back download traffic (correct traffic, compared to that you already have, because it would download that you already has) per time
• Violation of the minimal speed of the back download traffic per time (average or mean)
• Violation of the minimal always available torrents per time
• etc

If for some period of time, for example, 10 minutes one of violations is happened, then give plus 1 score of the penalty to the peer. If not, then minus 1 score of the penalty to the peer. If a peer from the IP address is too frequently does violate per day, then only after that the system can ban it for next day or week.

Each penalty score can limit upload traffic for 10% from the sending chunk of data or packet (no need the maximum).

Each penalty score can be "attached" to a fixed period of the time with some multiplier like x1.2:

• 1t - 10 mins
• 2nd - 10 x 1.2 = 12 mins
• 3d - 12 x 1.2 = 14.4 min
• 20, 25, 30, 36, 43, 52, 62

From the above the fastest time to get black listed is ~304 mins or ~5 hours.

It is partially manually and automatically at the same time. Manually - select the criteria, automatically - to follow the criteria.

Yes, easily done. Go to https://www.ip2location.com/free/visitor-blocker and download a blocklist in PeerGuardian2 format. Then put that blocklist in Connections->Filter Path

@kovalensky - BTW Israel is one of the Countries (by population) that are using so much bandwidth.
I have been using (Kaza,emule, Utorrent,qBitTorrent, etc) for 20 Years. and had no problem seeding or downloading from peers all over Europe, the US, and South American countries.
You can Ban Israel but it's your loss.

And for my Ukrainian friends and colleagues. Stay strong the Israeli People didn't forget you.

I was talking on my part, don't know about others. I'm a constant seeder (7+ years) and monitor peers from time to time or when downloading something.
During these years I've never seen f.e. a single Israeli seed on a rare torrent, or high download traffic from them. I'm being completely honest, the only time I see them is when they are downloading something from me.

I guess it depends on the area too. Most of the time I download local/foreign content from Russian trackers. I even recorded peers today to measure if I'm not missing opportunity here. Most of them from DHT network, number of unique peers is 104 which is very small compared to USA, Russian Federation, Ukraine, India, Canada.

Rare life savers for me were Moldova, China, Mexico, UAE, Denmark etc.

I believe we are all equal and have full rights to block any peers or do anything with my own computer till it doesn't harm someone else. (Since the beginning of this world, no human beings, Angel, or any kind of God did not gifted to me. I bought it with real money earned by doing real works).

Please do not mention any specific country to promote any kind of things. It just creates more arguments.
