For data adjustment, it's a common requirement to 'fix' some data so it meets a requirement spec.

A general "adjust_to_template" operation would be a real boon.

Details are a bit vague, but might involve :

identify dims and variables with those required
correct names of dims and variables
correct attributes (remove unwantred, add required ones with defaults, etc)

Idea: not clear how technical this might get -- look at CMORization as a pattern ?
