Describe the idea

In the search box, if you search for Tree, this category will only show trees with name. But the main tags for trees are genus and species that allows to identify the kind of tree. Like species='Ficus carica' is a fig tree.

So sadly OsmAnd research highlight only trees with name. But I want to highlight every trees to be able to click on them and see their genus and species.

Expected behaviour

  • The search of Tree and the category "natural > tree" should show all trees and not only trees with name.
  • OsmAnd should allow user to filter trees by genus (just a string that user can type)
  • Same for the tag species

Alternatives you've considered

Developing a plug-in for OsmAnd to bypass this "issue"

Another feature request that can help me: #17274

I guess the real "Killer feature" would be the ability to search for specific OSM tags: not only natural=tree or natural=tree_row, but also any pair key/value; Also wildcards and multiple filtering with boolean operators would be helpful, i.e. natural=tree AND genus=Ficus* (not just limited to tree search)

I know it's quite hard to develop and probably this will remain just a dream... but why stop dreaming? :-)
Best things,
Max

Uh, a post from 4 years ago... Quite dreamy, indeed, but interesting :-)
