Workflow for processing the standard:

  • 1. Create building blocks from conformance classes
  • 2. Create building blocks from schemas
  • 3. Create building blocks from parameters
  • 4. SWG review
  • 5. OGC-NA review
  • 6. Change label from 'under development' to 'stable'

Note - SSN/SOSA has no API or schema defined - however we are developing this according to the decision made by the SDWWG to put this on the roadmap - it will need to be formally adopted as a work item by the GeoSemanticsWG (and a new SWG) when the W3C/OGC SDW process hits its sunset date in 2024.

This has been started here:
https://github.com/opengeospatial/ogcapi-sosa

and is being used to:

  1. validate examples during the SSN/SOSA update cycle
  2. provide implementation testing for the normative component (SOSA ontology)
  3. provide evidence of use of new ObservationCollection features (since we have applications re-using this already)
  4. test and implement SHACL rules to test the logical constraints in the normative SOSA descriptions

Note that SSN only has one normative conformance class (SOSA) as a joint W3C specification, however it would be appropriate to define formal profiles of it
