Our team is trying to make a story-telling website that shows how serious the climate impact on gender inequality is. However, I'm not sure how much level we should utilize the data. Should we analyze or train the data and generate new results, or is it fine to simply use the data in the process of making our website? Would incorporating a form of story-telling website be viewed not technical enough? Also, is figma good to use for these kind of project? I would really appreciate it If you could recommend us any developing tools. |

A Navigator or SME can more specifically answer your questions about the technical depth of the project, however the challenge itself does not call for training or generating new results, rather analyzing the data provided. The "Potential Considerations" section of the challenge page may offer some guidance here. Figma is a great tool to use! Just remember, all project submissions must be openly accessible to the judges. |

The focus here is not just on technical depth, but more so a creative application of the data and insights into how this challenge can translate from science and into actionable solutions. I think data-enabled storytelling is a great direction to take this-- this is a challenge that intersects with policy, where how you tell a story to gain support for your issue (why it matters, why what you're proposing is the best path to address it) is a key feature. My only suggestion would be that in addition to showing climate impacts on gender inequality, push the project a step further and think about what can be done about this. What solutions would your team recommend, to a local government? National government? International body like the United Nations? Hi @rubysmac. And hello to all the teams working on this important challenge! I think this challenge is amongst the most challenging in the repertoire of challenges this year! And it will continue to be for many years ahead, which illustrates the importance of your team's work this weekend. @Daniela-GO-Team and @HannahT-SME both give important points to consider. I would add that it is difficult to find space-based data that quantifies the link between gender and climate. I think one exciting strategy for this weekend could be to highlight race + climate change data + modeling (Projections of Extreme Temperature-Related Deaths in the US, https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamanetworkopen/fullarticle/2823849 ) and then make the link to gender (Women, girls and climate change: human rights, vulnerabilities, and opportunities https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1002/ijop.12942). That would be an impactful story to tell via any medium. You could then present your thoughts on how in the future, satellite technology could continue to advance this important area of study. Hello! I wanted to bring up a technical error regarding the global nominees selected for gender and climate change challenge which might have occurred, there is a team that got nominated which did not submit anything (link of the team -> https://www.spaceappschallenge.org/nasa-space-apps-2024/find-a-team/091100v2/ yet, they still got recognized as global nominee.
