We have some ideas for new features for the web plugin, but this is a community shaped project and we want to hear what ideas you have!

Hello! A maybe naive (re)quest(ion): When software authors have gone to the length of making their code citable with a Zenodo-DOI, and have applied that badge to the README in their GitHub repo, would it be possible for your plugin to detect that DOI (somehow) and incorporate it in the BibTeX snippet?

@katrinleinweber We are using the GitHub API to extract information about the repository. The Zenodo-DOI value was not provided by this API when this software was written. However this was about a year ago. It may be possible now. It would need to be investigated.

And scraping it from the repo's website? Would that be in-scope?

It appears that you can actually can get the contents of the readme through the API. The readme could then be parsed for the DOI. Feel free to examine the source of the project. CitationCore is responsible for extracting a repositories data and coercing the data into a format. That would be the place to start and we would be happy to field any other questions or pull requests.
