= Create a deb package =
This might not be the exact prescribed way to do this but it works fine.
Required: python-stdeb
Tested: Ubuntu 13.10
- Create a working folder (Do this to prevent a lot of temp files in one of your regular folders)
- Download source .tar.gz package in this working folder
- untar the source package inside this working folder
- rename folder pyExifToolGUI-x.y.z to pyexiftoolgui-x.y.z
- create new tar.gz from folder like "tar -cvzf pyexiftoolgui-x.y.z.tar.gz pyexiftoolgui-x.y.z"
- create orig.tar.gz like "cp pyexiftoolgui-x.y.z.tar.gz pyexiftoolgui_x.y.z.orig.tar.gz"
(mind the underscore instead of hyphen in the second name)
- cd into the "pyexiftoolgui-x.y.z/debian" folder
- execute the command "debuild -uc -us"
- this will create a new deb two folder levels higher, e.g. inside the working folder
next to the pyexiftoolgui-x.y.z folder.
= Create a RedHat/Fedora package from Ubuntu/Debian =
This is NOT the way to do it properly, but it might work
- Use .deb from above method (I'm on Ubuntu)
- do "sudo alien -r pyexiftoolgui_x.y.z_all.deb"
= Create an Ubuntu/Debian package from Fedora/RedHat =
This is NOT the way to do it properly, but it might work
(I don't know yet how to create a Fedora/Redhat package.
- Do "alien pyexiftoolgui-x.y.z.noarch.rpm"
