Add a section at the bottom of each topic to allow people to add a comment (depends on #12). This would need to then send an e-mail to the es-discuss mailing list. I think this would greatly enhance the input es-discuss gets from developers. It could also include a "preview" feature, which would encourage people to write well formed markdown.

I've noticed that the w3.org mailing lists have this functionality in their web interfaces, e.g. see "respond to this message" on public-script-coord. It looks like the "In-Reply-To" and "References" headers are the important ones.

Good point, we do have access to those headers in the mongodb database, so that shouldn't be too difficult. I was thinking we could create a form for entry, but just relying on people's own e-mail programmes would be a good start.

Do you know what moderation's like for non-members posting to es-discuss?

FWIW I really like the form idea (especially with the preview), so yeah, definitely go there eventually---even if not immediately.

As for moderation, I'm not sure. I know even for members their spam filter can be overzealous, which sometimes Brendan adds people to a list in order to bypass. So there's possibly two tiers: members, and members-on-Brendan's list.

Yep, I'm happy with a quick interim solution. I can't see myself getting round to the fully awesome solution till the summer unfortunately.
