https://forkawesome.github.io/ seems more open to community contributed icons than FontAwesome and as a result has icons for open projects we care about like ActivityPub, Mastodon, PeerTube and Liberapay, so probably a better long term choice.

Why not using SVG Icons? IMHO they are much more accessible than a font and they are very small in size.
