Shows the currently logged in users avatar in the panel and displays users as a grid of avatars
Chrome OS
Shows the avatar of the currently logged in user in the menu and appears to switch to a separate page when clicked
GNOME
Doesn't appear that GNOME quick settings currently provides this feature, but there's a mockup that seems to provide an avatar in the corner like Chrome OS but shows a menu instead of a separate page https://github.com/d-go/quick-settings-avatar

In quick settings, add the logged-in user's avatar and remove the log-out option.
User Interaction:
When the user clicks on the avatar, a view to manage accounts appears.
This view allows users to log out, open user accounts settings, or switch between users (using a list to display users for consistency with the list in user accounts settings.)
Scalability:
Show a maximum of 4 users at a time.
If there are more than 4 users in the list, allow scrolling to see more.
Provide a guest session option if no other users are available.
These changes should make it easy for users to see who is currently logged in and quickly switch between users while maintaining a consistent and scalable design. I'd love to hear your feedback!
Currently on a system with several sessions - This would be a welcome addition
The proposal is nice, but the profile icon is on the same line as a button to open system settings, and one to shutdown
So it is not apparent it opens a new line.
Maybe a whole line at the top, with Profile picture, pretty name, arrow to suggest it is a drop down ?
Problem
Folks want to be able to:
