Notifications are not withdrawm

What Happened?

i have a lot of lingering notificiations from mail, sometimes from sessions ago
about new mails - but since long, the mail app has been opened, the mails are read, deleted or moved

Steps to Reproduce

receive mail notifications
they stay around

Expected Behavior

Mail should clean up after itself -
remove notification about an email when it is focused
remove notification of new emails from sessions ago
etc
