Installer fails if no /boot/efi set, of a minimum size and above, with custom install #807

What Happened?

Wanted to install the RC (elementaryos-8.0-stable.2024 09 18 rc)

The Installer failed immediately upon starting install - Until i figured out, despite the wording, it Needed a /boot/efi partition set, and one with 256 (or 512 ? i dont remember) Mb set

Doing back and forth with custom partitioning would have been unnecessary if either the wording said it wasnt optional, or the installer truly did not need a special partition

Gparted did display a small warning icon but not much else

Steps to Reproduce

Boot up on RC
set a custom install
do not set any /boot/efi, or set one with below 256mb
witness an error screen when starting install

Expected Behavior

Either the installer is happy with no boot/efi set (it installs in / ?) and proceeds
Or it is said "you need to set a boot/efi of minimum xxx size"
