Hello there,

Could you clarify if I'm allowed to proceed with this task, or does it require assignment to me first?

Regarding your question, if a process is running and the user presses cmd+k to clear the console, the process will continue running in the background so should the user be allowed to clear the console or not

Hi, PRs are always welcome. We don't typically assign issues to external contributors, but showing at least a WIP PR is helpful to indicate that you've got something in progress.
