abstract: freesurferformats is an R package for reading and writing neuroimaging data in various file formats. The package can be used to load a number of surface based formats related to the FreeSurfer neuroimaging software suite, but also many other formats. It can load brain surface meshes, vertex-wise morphometry data in MGH, MGZ, curv formats, parcellations in annot format, labels and statistical results. It supports export to many open standard data formats.
