No way to clear datepicker value

When using the datepicker to act as a filter on a list of items, there's no easy way to clear the input (i.e. start date and end date are filled but then user wants to clear end date to be able to see all events from start date on). Does this necessarily need to be forked to be able to add this feature or did I overlook a method?

This would be good addition. For filter/search form ability to clear set date (for example end date) is useful.
