[Support]: Frigate keep freezing host

• I have tried reproducing the issue in incognito mode to rule out problems with any third party extensions or plugins I have installed.

Describe the problem you are having

Since some weeks, Frigate is killing the host every 1-2 days.

I'm using frigate v0.14, on docker, on LXC with Proxmox.
The host is dying very fast without any notice, no logs, no different load, nothing curious.

I've found similar closed bugs, but can't find a solution.

I've tried :

• use another host (got 3x dell 3050 with i5-6500T) : same problem
• use another kernel : i've tried 6.1, 6.2, 6.5, 6.11 pve kernels : same problem
• try different hwaccel_args :
  preset-intel-qsv-h264 : same
  preset-vaapi : same
  without : actually testing
• test other frigate versions : 0.14, and 0.15 beta : same (didn't want to rollback on v0.13)
• increase shm : actually 1Gb, but frigate shows less 20Mo used

If someone have any idea...

There's no way to help without seeing logs.

You have logging set to critical by default instead of info. You'll want to adjust this.

Proxmox is also technically an unsupported installation method, though many users have had success with the tteck LXC script.

Is the host freezing up or rebooting? If so, you might be overly taxing the machine.

Are you monitoring system CPU usage and temperatures? Is CPU consistently > 50%?

Given you've referenced a "t" processor that suggests you're using Micro Form Factor units, that weren't really designed for non-stop high load. These are low-end office machines, not data-centre class.

I had this issue on a 5080 Micro a while back. I ended up disabling Intel turbo mode in Linux which reduced the peak power draw and CPU temps, and also stabilised the system.

The server is just freezing. No logs on the system

It's like #6477

CPU usage is stable above 25% on each thread (4t), and temp is stable at 35°C.

This machine is running since some month without issue, I got 3 of them, only the one running frigate is dying (the others have a good load too).
I know it's not datacenter class, but for home and avoiding 100W by host power draw it's good :)

I may have a clue, which can be helpfull : you need to check the GPU driver used.

I was using the i915 LIBVA driver, because of some bugs on Intel J4xxx CPUs, but I didn't rollback to iHD driver when going on the i5-6500T.
Removing the lines on my docker compose fixed the issue :
