This proposal aims to add a guide to the docs for client-side implementers of the Iceberg REST protocol to provide secure implementations of common auth models for OAuth2 secured REST Servers.
It is neither an extension of the Iceberg REST Catalog specification nor OAuth2 itself.
Iceberg REST Servers require authentication to access protected resources such as Catalogs and Tables. As clients need to implement authentication mechanisms, common standards are required.
Non-production implementations for experimentation in a docker-compose setup are available on github.
