Bleeding state between commands in different shells

There is an issue when running --repl with a session name and then --repl with a different session name and --shell in an entirely different terminal session. I cannot run a regular --repl session and a --shell session concurrently in two different iTerm2 tabs. This leads to unexpected behavior. Can you fix this?
