This is how I'm running backup and sync on my old MacBook currently. At work right now but can check to see if it's still working when I get home.

I'd greatly appreciate it. I did use this before without any problem, but it suddenly stopped working. May be it's because I reinstalled MacOs a couple months ago.

On December 2020, my MacBook start to received notification that the app is deprecated and will not working soon.
I just don't expect that Google really shut down the app, not just don't supporting it.
Yeah that sucks. I just have purchase Google One storage.

I tried to run this tutorial step by step and also wasn't successful. It stuck when opening the Backup and Sync for the first time after installing the older version and after doing the stuff on terminal and erasing GoogleSoftwareUpdate folder.

Got some alternative solutions. One is using odrive, an alternative software for sync; other is upgrading osx with patch.

I've tried installing odrive but it looks such a complicated software. So I uninstalled it.
Thinking about upgrading El Capitan to Mojave with the patch. But still waiting someone find the workaround for Backup & sync.

Ditto, 3.49 dead in 10.11.6, great to hear of a better workaround than odrive or patching for an update...

@wykleph : Hi! Did you check if it is still working? And if it isn't, do you possibly have a solution please?

Can't wait any longer for the solution, so I decided to force upgrade my MBP mid 2009 OSX from El Capitan to Mojave so I can install latest version of Google Backup & Sync.

Been 3 weeks using patched Mojave and everything is good.
