I also posted a link to a video of using another Git GUI called GitKraken to the Week 1 notes (link above). GitKraken is not that useful for me personally, since I'd have to pay to use it with an internal NOAA GitHub server, the NOAA GitHub Enterprise server, or private repositories. The free version won't let you do any of those things. It has a lot of bells and whistles that might be useful to heavy code developers however.

Note, the first video shows me connecting GitHub and GitKraken right after I downloaded it. Connecting with GitHub and GitHub Desktop is similar. It takes just logging into your GitHub account. That's it. I'm not going to post a video of connecting GitHub and RStudio, because it is so cumbersome and painful. You can read about how to do it here. I do have them connected but only because I need to demo it for teaching. I don't actually use Git in RStudio for work except a shortcut to get to a terminal window.
