New Relationship: for inspired by #6
Comments
JSC members who were at the Jane-athon have noted the requirement for a designator to represent an "inspired by" relationship, and will bring this to the attention of the JSC. The issue of a "collective work" for all of the novels of Jane Austen will be raised with the new JSC Aggregates Working Group. Further comments on this issue are welcome; please keep them coming. |
While waiting for a JSC decision about adding a new relationship designator for "Inspired by", I think you could us the existing broader designator "Based On (Work)", which produces the reciprocal designator "Derivative (Work)" Would the reciprocal (inverse) relationship for "Inspired by" be: "Inspiration for"? It would be good if we could also suggest a definition for both relationships--does anyone have any suggestions? Work described is: Deresiewicz, William, 1964- Jane Austen education Work described is: Austen, Jane, 1775-1817. Works Looking at the broader relationships for guidance: Work described is: Austen, Jane, 1775-1817. Works Note that I used "Austen, Jane, 1775-1817. Works" as one possible gathering technique instead of having to make analytic Work relationships for each chapter. But, this is a really good example for the JSC Aggregates Working Group (JAWG), so it is great that you brought it to our attention. |
Hi- jane-athon newbie here-- our example is an autobio- A Jane Austen education- author writes about his experience reading Jane. We want to link the entire WEM to the 6 novels he discusses in individual chapters (ie chapter 1 is on Emma, Ch. 2 on P & P) but cannot find the inspired by, or similar, designator. Also, is there an easier way than making analytics W records for each chapter??
