General Question: App Store App

Hello,

I am new to App development and wanted to ask you if in order to sell your app on the App Store, in order to offer free trial and then a membership plan. Do you have to setup in app purchases in your app or you can set that up on the app store only when you create and configure your app?

Does the same approach apply for the Play Store?

I would really appreciate if you can give some idea on how this works.

I am quite more familiar with Cordova Hybrid Apps and they also have a plug-in for that, but I am a bit confused if you need to set this up or add plug-ins if you want to offer free trial and then a subscription plan.
