Looking at the futility paper, it seems that for fixed_design we should also allow an event-based cutoff or max of time or event-based cutoff in fixed_design() for the TTE methods.
We have done this with the gs_power_xxx functions with TTE.

Should this be a feature to allow K = 1 for group sequential design functions?
