I have this watch https://store.pine64.org/?product=pinetime-dev-kit

It has backplate not sealed and the backplate is expected to be glued with waterproof (watch is IP67) silicon adhesive (the watch is made for developers so it's not sealed for debugging of chipset).

Manufacture (allegedly) recommends:

The issue with that is that it would be difficult to open with that assuming that access to the pcb is expected on demand if needed.

Currently the manufacturer does not ship the adhesive mensioned above, because it's allegedly rejected by the shipping company where IATA's DGR (Dangerous Good regulation) from https://storage.pardot.com/123902/291311/DGR_61_EN_ToC.pdf specifies (simplifies):

expected properties

  • Reaction with plastic and nylon is not expected
  • Should hold in -20 to 60 C
  • expecting waterproof seal
  • easy to remove if needed
  • Shippable via an aircraft (so that manufacturer could use it)
  • Cheap to make (so that manufacturer could use it)
