I'd like to host a workshop/bootcamp that goes through the process of identifying a beetle.

I would cover the whole "life" of a specimen covering:

  • Collecting in the field
  • Processing steps at the lab
  • A walk-through of an identification key highlighting the structures used when identifying a carabid
  • Briefly discuss (with @isabetabug ) how specimens are maintained at the NEON Biorepository

Would love to hear feedback/interest on this topic!

Update (from email and in person discussions):
We are going to do a beetle series with the following general outline.
@Nagelle will cover the field portion of the beetle collection process
@EvanWaite will cover 'What it takes to identify a beetle'
@isabetabug (I) will cover the specimens at the biorepository
@Nagelle will also cover the structure of the published data
