Take a look at the different NEON data products and consider if there are any relevant NEON data bootcamps from the NEON learning hub you would like to cover before or during Beetlepalooza.

Thorpe et al (2016) is useful for understanding which measurements NEON takes that are co-located in space and/or time.

@JCGiron would you like to see a bootcamp on some of the NEON beetle data questions you have had with regards to the sampling methodologies and how to access information on what species were sampled where and when?

@sydnerecord I think that since the main goal is to tackle NEON data focusing on beetles, more than a bootcamp I think some common ground is needed (perhaps take 20 min in the introduction on day 1), so that we can all understand what different communities (taxonomists, ecologists, informaticians) need/want to (and can) get out of the data being collected, since we are not all interested in the same questions and the informatics crew has the technical expertise, but not necessarily the biological background and significance of the data (I would think).
For myself, as a taxonomist I'm interested on how to get accurate identifications. As a curator of collections, I would like to know a little more about how the samples go from field collection to sorted/identified specimens in containers and how containers from the same sample but different species get linked together and to their corresponding data. We also use a symbiota-based platform and it is always interesting to see how other projects use the software capabilities.
