Separation of Landing Pages with a New Template

I think the addition of pages is great and will work well for pages like About Us or a Contact page. After thinking about where and how custom blocks might be implemented #1604, I think having a better understanding of how publishing works is a better path. I think being able to add landing pages to the theme and don't get regenerated would be the best-case scenario (including the homepage) with the blog content being regenerated on publish. This is kind of what I plan on doing with a few Hugo and Pelican sites (I keep looking at Publli because I have a few clients who could benefit from the user-friendly front-end). Is there some documentation on how to make this work, and if so, could you point me to it?
