I get this error despite having acpi_enforce_resources=lax as a kernel parameter and having softdep nct6687 pre: i2c_i801 listed in the modules config.

Did you check with sensors-detect ?

Hi!
I think I encounters same kind of problem on ASUS PRIME B650-PLUS, despite having acpi_enforce_resources=lax :

sensors-detect:
Sorry, no sensors were detected.
Either your system has no sensors, or they are not supported, or
they are connected to an I2C or SMBus adapter that is not
supported

journalctl | grep "nct6687"
oct. 20 09:26:11 kernel: nct6687: loading out-of-tree module taints kernel.
oct. 20 09:26:11 kernel: nct6687: module verification failed: signature and/or required key missing - tainting kernel
oct. 20 09:26:11 systemd-modules-load[491]: Failed to insert module 'nct6687': No such device
