Addition to the pinout: For NodeMCUs v3, VIN is really the input. There, the NodeMCU can be supplied with 5V. It is no longer possible to write the voltage of the USB port there, as was possible with version 2. For our project, therefore, connect the 5V line of the sensor (PPD42NS or SDS011) to VU (next to the soldered ESP8266).
Take these boards VU (V USB) for 5 volts.
